Aquiva Wireless holds an Internet Access Provision (IAP) License issued by POTRAZ (Post and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority) the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority within Zimbabwe. This allows Aquiva Wireless to contribute to the establishment of sound communication infrastructure solid enough to accommodate future trends of high capacity Next Generation Networks.
The company is authorized by its telecommunications license to construct, operate, develop, extend, and maintain a public data and internet access network referred to as the data and internet backbone that comprises of:
- National data and internet service;
- International data and internet service;
- Local access data and internet service;
- Internet content service;
- Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP); as well as
- Internet service provider (ISP) services.
With a strong bond and participation and commitment from ISPs, the company is empowered to acquire existing and new corporate clients wherever the company has coverage both in cable and wireless services. Aquiva Wireless’ strategy is to build capacity which positions it well becoming a preferred supplier of lastmile services. Main objectives include reliable connectivity, quick turnaround and excellent support services on last mile connectivity solutions.
Customer Acquisition Strategy
Aquiva has strategically positioned itself on the market by having alliances with retail service providers who go to market and interface with the individual clients whilst the company handles the backend network operations. This has allowed the company to develop, construct and maintain infrastructure and gain access to more areas expanding network reach and acquiring more subscribers without dramatically increasing capital expenditure.
Numerical Strategic Benefit
Aquiva Wireless offers a sliding scale subsidized monthly rental per site, giving ISPs potential reduction in monthly last mile costs should they increase their customer base on the Aquiva network. Further to that, the alliances forged with ISPs provide greater savings as more ISPs bring numbers in different areas increasing reach to all the others once Aquiva has coverage in an area.
The company provides a package of services intended to maximise return on investment by reducing capital and operating expenses though offering a more affordable service in aggregated services including dark/lit Optical fibre network backbone/backhaul services, quality carrier grade voice services and maintenance of passive network equipment.
